What is web scraping?

Web scraping refers to the automated extraction of data from websites. There are different methods to perform web scraping, but generally they all follow a similar process. First, a website or collection of websites is selected for the data to be extracted. Then, the relevant data is extracted from the chosen web pages and converted into a structured format for further processing.

How does web scraping work?

This involves using special software to analyze the HTML structure of the website and extract the required data. This can be done by writing scripts manually to derive specific data from a website. Alternatively, specific tools can be used to automate the process of scripting and data extraction.

APIs (Application Programming Interfaces)

Another method of web scraping is the use of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces). APIs are special interfaces provided by websites to help developers access their data. Web scraping with APIs usually requires less technical knowledge and is faster and more efficient than extracting data from websites manually. API scraping is also easier as the structure and content of the data to be accessed is clearly defined. However, not all websites provide APIs, or access to APIs may be restricted.

To perform web scraping, different technologies are needed, depending on which method is used. If manual scripts are written to extract data, programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Ruby are usually required.

Web scraping is the automated extraction of data from websites. We only collect data that is freely available on the internet. In principle, we automate a process that can also be done manually. Before each project, we check the legality of the data collection on a case-by-case basis.

Basically, all data from websites can be extracted, e.g. content, titles, prices, descriptions, dates, etc.

We usually deliver the data as Excel or Google Sheet or as .csv. If a different format is required, this should be clarified in advance.

The price depends on a number of factors:
(I) How often does the data need to be retrieved? Monthly, weekly, daily, hourly, etc.?
